In line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ambitious “Mission Karmayogi” program which is a one-of-a-kind experience in the direction of capacity building and modernization of mindset, methodology and skills of government employees, the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has recently partnered with the Indian School of Business (ISB) to conduct capacity building programs for MSDE officials.
A total of 120 officers (30 per batch) across all MSDE divisions would undergo a five-day comprehensive residential training at ISB Hyderabad and Mohali campuses. The first batch of 30 officers completed their training at the ISB Mohali campus with a convocation ceremony held for the officers.
The MSDE Management Development Program aims to improve the skills of MSDE officers by facilitating capacity building training for a mixed group of officials, including MSDE officers, directors of industrial training institutes ( ITI), Sector Skills Councils, CEOs, State Skills Mission Directors and Jan Sikshan Sansthans (JSS) and National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC). The Memorandum of Understanding between MSDE and ISB was signed in the presence of Shri. Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship.
The main objective of the program is to strengthen leadership skills while developing a strategic mindset that will help to better understand data analytics and digital transformation. Through strategic leadership and management development programs, MSDE and ISB encourage public servants to instill a culture of innovation within their respective organizations. The bundles are strategically designed to encourage cross-learning while taking on new challenges and understanding the complexities to ensure lasting success.
Training at ISB was also honored by Sh. Parveen Pardesi, Member Administrator, CBC, who gave a holistic lecture on the role of governance in building a skills ecosystem.
Expressing his views on the development agenda, Shri Rajesh Aggarwal, Secretary of the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, said that with India on its way to becoming a superpower, it is essential that employees of the government are honing themselves to become productive contributors to India’s economic growth. We intend to promote cross-learning through these development programs, which will ultimately lead to a practical understanding of the essential components of business strategy and we look forward to creating a new generation of skilled workforce that propels India’s innovative future, he added.
In accordance with the advice issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT) Capacity Building Commission, a permanent capacity building unit for MSDE has been established via an office memorandum dated January 17, 2022, which will be responsible for coordinating with the Capacity Building Commission and implementing various capacity building interventions for all employees under MSDE on an ongoing approach based on the Training Needs Analysis (TNA).
Key initiatives undertaken by capacity building exercise at MSDE, induction programs for Indian Skills Development Service (ISDS) officers; self-defense training for all MSDE employees; 5-day Art de Vivre training program in stress management for 765 MSDE agents; and strengthening the management and leadership capacities of 120 civil servants, including officers from the MSDE ecosystem.
