Classes this semester are a mix of online and in-person classes at Columbia High School as well as various locations around the city. “We are delighted to publish our first catalog since spring 2020 and to once again be able to offer in-person classes at the CHS! says Associate Director Liz Herring. Despite concerns about the Delta variant, the adult school is optimistic that with the proper safety precautions determined by the CDC and the South Orange-Maplewood School District, students will once again be able to safely assemble for lessons. in person. Students who prefer to stay online will also be spoiled for choice. Here are some highlights coming this fall.

This semester Active mind section brings back longtime favorite political analyst Dr Ralph Buultjens for the Eva Samo talk titled The Post-Pandemic World: Can America Remain # 1? September 29. For those who dream of a fabulous evening of singing, dancing, cocktails and appetizers (in other words – everyone!), The Adult School invites you to sing on demand at Woodland on November 13. The evening features the Flying Ivoires dueling pianos and is a fundraiser for the adult school.

The section also includes art history lessons with Janet Mandel, a lecture on modern Jewish cinematic comedy by famous film critic Stephen Whitty, a series of lessons on the history of rock, pop, country and soul, Harlem Renaissance literature and auteur cinema. Festival.
